Do guided tours in Egypt usually include airport transfers?

Hi everyone! We just booked a 10 day Egypt tour and I’m now trying to figure out the airport logistics. The tour description says “starts at hotel in Cairo” but doesn’t mention anything about getting FROM the airport TO the hotel.

Do most Egypt tours include a pickup at Cairo airport or do we need to arrange that ourselves? If so, is it safe to just grab a taxi at the airport or should we pre-book a private transfer? Our flight lands at 11pm which makes me nervous about figuring this out on our own in the dark.

Also, what about the departure day? Does the tour usually drop you back at the airport or are you on your own again? Just want to budget for this if it’s not included.

As with all tours, one needs to pay close attention to the itinerary and ‘What’s Included - What’s Not Included’.

Some higher end tours start with a pick-up at the airport, others are meet at the hotel.

Can you contact the tour operator and see if they can send a driver to meet you at the airport; even if it means you’re paying a ‘supplement’?

Otherwise, you may want to pre-book a transfer; considering the arrival time.

The driver will meet you inside the arrivals hall with a sign (usually your name), help you with luggage, and take you directly to your hotel.

If not included, you’ll need to make your own way to the airport after the tour as well.

If your departure time is more friendly, it’s easy enough. Otherwise, use the services of whoever picked you up on arrival.

As for budget, you may need to factor in around $20-35 each way, depending on where your hotel is located.

How About Your Hotel?

Some hotels might have an airport shuttle, so it could be worth contacting the hotel as well; although this could be a little more expensive, especially as you didn’t book your accommodation with the hotel directly.
