Planning ahead for Egypt next March and I’m not sure when to pull the trigger on booking. Is 6 months out early enough or do the popular tours sell out way before that?
I’ve also heard some companies offer early bird discounts and others give last minute deals if tours aren’t full. Which strategy actually saves more money? We’re flexible on exact dates within March so we could go for a less popular departure if it saves a few hundred. Any tips on timing?
Six months out for March Egypt is honestly pretty solid timing. Like you’re not scrambling but you’re also not way ahead of the game. The popular departures (think Nile cruises, the classic Cairo to Luxor routes) can fill up faster than you’d expect especially for March since the weather is genuinely perfect that time of year so everyone and their mom is trying to go.
The early bird vs last minute thing is real but I’d honestly lean early bird if you have any flexibility anxiety at all lol. Last minute deals exist but it’s kind of a gamble, you might save a few hundred or you might end up with whatever’s left and lose the date flexibility you mentioned. My honest take: start shortlisting tours now, see which ones are already showing limited availability, and if you find one that checks your boxes just book it. The mental peace alone is worth not playing the waiting game on a trip like Egypt!
