I only have 6 days to visit Colombia and I know I can’t do both justice. I love history, walking around colorful streets, and good coffee.
Cartagena looks gorgeous but I’ve heard the street vendors are super aggressive.
Medellin looks incredible but maybe less “vacation-y”? Which one is better for a first time visit?

Cartagena wins for me, hands down. Nice beaches and colonial old town.
Color, history and coffee could be the best description for any of these places! I visited Colombia 3 years ago and my only regret is not having spent more time in there
However, if you only have 6 days I think you’ll love Cartagena for its colonial history, colorful buildings and beautiful beaches (you can even take a small trip to the Rosario islands). Medellín has just as much color, but with more of an urban and city feel. From there you can take easy daily trips to the different small towns in the Coffee Region (Salento, Valle del Cocora, Quindío). You’ll see the most stunning landscapes and you’ll fall in love with both the coffee and the people!
Whatever you decide, you’ll have the most amazing time!
