I’m visiting Morocco in November as a solo traveller and will be taking a group tour that will end in Marrakesh. I’m planning on heading to Essaouira by myself for a few days after, and am considering taking the bus (Supratours/CTM).
I’m a bit nervous about doing this by myself, and would really appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice on how best to navigate the bus stations, buying tickets, getting to my accommodation from the bus station, etc.
I had a very similar plan when I traveled to Morocco earlier this year.
My advise would be to pre-buy the tickets as most the bus providers have this option and November is the busiest time of the year and this would secure your spot You can of course buy the tickets at the station as well.
Make sure you have some dirhams with you as storing your luggage under the bus might cost you 5-10 dirhams.
In Essaouira, depending on the bus provider you take, you would need to walk to the Medina. Please note that no cars can enter the Medina, and the city is very walkable so I would recommend taking backpack to navigate the streets to your accommodation.
Thanks @travelling.with.isa ! This is really helpful. I’m actually staying at a resort 15 mins away from the medina, so I’ll need to catch a taxi. I’ve heard taxi drivers in Essaouira don’t haggle the taxi fare, which I’m thankful for. Which bus company did you go with?
