I have been to Sri Lanka and one major highlight for me was the Ella to Kandy train.
The most surprising thing was that we travelled through multiple vegetation times from foggy forest through tea fields. Big tip reserve the first class ticket for the train in advance as it ensures you are sitting and not standing as the train ride is pretty long but so worth it.

on our tour the operator mainly just got tickets for the last class and we were standing the whole time. the funny part it wasn’t that bad at all as we had the chance to always stand close to the open doors which gave us great views and a LOOOOOT of pictures and videos. but watch out when hanging out of the train as trees might come
