Hello fellow travelers!
We are doing 10 days in Portugal next May and I want to make sure we aren’t rushing. We plan to fly into Lisbon (3 days) then train to Porto (3 days) and then we want to see the Algarve. Is it better to just rent a car for the south? Or should we just look at booking a small group tour on TourRadar that handles the transport for the Algarve portion? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I live in Portugal and it’s definitely a country worth exploring ![]()
Your plan sounds great and very doable. You can absolutely rent a car and do the Algarve part on your own—it’s actually very easy and gives you a lot of flexibility. The region is beautiful and driving around is quite comfortable.
You can base yourself in Faro and take day trips to different towns and beaches.
Alternatively, if you prefer something more organized, joining a small group tour like this one is also a very good option ![]()
