Can you skip activities on a guided tour if you need a break?

Honestly a bit worried about the pace of our upcoming Turkey guided tour (10 days). I’m 67 and some days I just need a slow morning. If the group is heading to a third mosque in a day and I’m toast, can I just say “I’ll meet you at lunch” and go sit in a cafe?

Or is skipping activities frowned upon? I don’t want to annoy the guide or make things awkward. How strict are guided tours about sticking together? We picked this over independent travel FOR the structure, but I also don’t want it to feel like summer camp.

Hey! In my experience doing a few different styles of tours, you totally can skip things! I was on a fully guided trip and I had seen a few of the museums and activities twice before. So I asked the guide if I could do my own thing, and she gave me her phone number, a breakdown of the plan for the day, and suggestions on where I could meet up with the group to enjoy things in the afternoon.

Sometimes you have to find your own way back to the group, or just wait until everyone gets back to the hotel and rejoin them the next day. but it’s YOUR trip- build it how you want!
