A lot of tours roll the three together - Dubrovnik, the Bay of Kotor, Lake Bled - and on paper it’s a tempting Balkans sampler. But I wonder if it becomes a blur of coastline and lakes when we could just savour Croatia properly. If you did the combined trip, did the neighbours add to it or stretch it thin?
These are all very different and offer quite distinct experiences. Dubrovnik is all about the walled city (even more so if you’re a GOT fan) Kotor feels more like a hidden gem, with a medieval atmosphere and authentic charm. Bled, on the other hand, is pure nature and outdoor adventures, with emerald green waters that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy tale.
That said, I think the length of the trip is what should really guide your decision. If it’s 10+ days, I’d go for the multi-country tour. You’ll have enough time in each place to actually enjoy it. If it’s shorter, I think Croatia alone is a better call, it’s an absolutely stunning country and you’ll have an amazing time. And my personal recommendation? Don’t skip the Dalmatian Coast. It’s truly something special ![]()
