I am planning to fly soon and have multiple connection options in Europe. Which airport in Europe would you say offers the smoothest connection experience? I will be coming from North America.
In my book, it would very much depend on where you are headed to and how much of an issue cost is. London Gatwick (LGW) would be a good place to start. There are two terminals but they easily connect in a few minutes on a train shuttle at no cost and generally operate super frequently. Yes, LGW can appear somewhat chaotic but has everything you need: shops, food outlets, hotels and guest houses for every budget, with buses and shuttles available. Flight options / destinations are numerous with budget airlines as well as major international carriers. If you want to visit London city or elsewhere in the U.K., the rail links are very good too. If nothing else, I would start with LGW (assuming it is a practical option) and compare with other hubs for cost, connection times and any other considerations.

Agree with @ScenicMountainretreat that LGW is a great option for low cost airlines to other parts of Europe.
Amsterdam schipol airport is propabaly one of the biggest hubs to transit through but they are notorious for losing luggage when there are quick connection times (happened to me and my neice on seperate flight connections!). Madrid is a decent hub and found it pretty easy there.
Depending on your route, I would see see what flights offer a decent connection time and aim for one with a couple of hours, so its not stressful when you land and not too long. Most of the hubs in Europe will have decent enough facilities.
