# When's the best time of year for Austria - the lakes, the Alps and Vienna?

We’re a couple in our 60s planning our first trip to Austria and can’t settle on the season. We’d love the lakes and mountains looking their best but without the peak-summer crush. For those who’ve been, which time of year gets that balance right?

**Late Spring and early Summer** ; think end of May, early June.

Leave July and August to the holidaymakers.
