We can’t picture a big coach group threading through the narrow souks and medina streets, but the smaller-group tours cost a fair bit more. We’re trying to work out if the smaller group is worth it here specifically. Did group size change the experience much in Morocco?

I think in Morocco there is a definite benefit to a smaller group tour with a mini bus rather than a coach due to the layout of many of the city centers.
In most cities you will have to do a lot of sightseeing on foot, but a small bus can take you much closer to the action than a coach!
Similarly, a smaller group will be able to get much further into the souks than a larger group, unless you like to explore alone and without your guide.
I agree the smaller groups cost a lot more, but I think it’s worth spending a little more if you can afford it.
I travelled to Marrakech in a group of 10 and it was the perfect size!
