Small-group or a big coach tour for Greece - which suits the sites and ferries better?

We’re weighing a smaller group against one of the big coach trips. I can picture a large group being a scrum at the busy ruins and a squeeze on the island ferries - or maybe it’s all handled smoothly. Did the size of the group change how much you enjoyed it?

Hi Mary,

I think it does depend on a few things, like your budget and where and when you are hoping to visit.
I agree with your opinion that a large group visiting busy sites during high season would be a lot, but might not be so bad during quieter seasons.

Personally, I tend to prefer smaller group tours over a large coach, as you will receive a slightly more personal experience and more attention from your guide, but then it does depend on the price difference too! If there was a great deal on a larger group I would probably take it.

I think it’s really about preference. You can also look into semi-guided options. Where you can join groups for activities, but also get time on your own. I enjoyed being part of a larger group for bigger sites, since the logistics of getting there are back are sometimes taken care of, but you also get to decompress and explore on your own during your free time.
