# Should we stop over in Singapore?

I’m really excited to see Singapore airport on our way to Thailand, but is it worth staying in the actual city for a day or two or not bother?

I’ve personally never been, but I have friends who have been in transit and the airport offers a free city tour for 2.5 hours! Your layover needs to be longer than 5/6 hours and you might need to book in advance - but I feel it’s a great way to explore if you are not certain you want to visit for a longer period of time 😃

Totally worth it! The whole island is very cool and really beautiful, like being on a different planet sometimes!

If you do the city tour definitely book in advance! I was planning on doing that but it was sold out when I got there so missed out on seeing the city. But the airport has a lot to offer so I definitely wasn’t bored during the layover.

I definitely recommend Singapore, and did the same thing of staying for a few nights as a stopover between Europe and Australia.
My grandparents actually met there (RAF), which is why I decided to go and was kinda surprised how much I loved it! It has a unique charm.
My favourite stops were:
- Sentosa Island: I got the cable car there, lovely tropical feel and beaxh with very calm swimming waters
- Raffles Hotel: A classic, get a singapore sling and peanuts! (the whole floor is covered in peanut shells)
- China Town (and little India): I thought it was great to wander around and see a different side of the city outside the curated tourist attractions.
Its a very small country so the airport tour would be a good idea to see a few spots, but there is plenty to do for 2-3 days.
Be prepared for intense humidity! I think its the most humid place I’ve been 😅

Anytime you have the opportunity to see a new place is always worth it in my opinion. 2 days there will be perfect as a stopover. Orchard Road is where a lot of tourists stay if you like shopping,but everything is within a short distance by public transport or uber/taxi and walking. For a first visit it is fun to do touristy things such as the many markets , eat street food at Hawkers Markets or a drink and snack at Raffles Hotel, or visit Gardens by the Bay. The humidity slows you down unless you are already used to it so don’t plan too much at a time. it is very safe and clean and no problem walking around at night.
