I’m trying to book a hotel in Manhattan for November and literally every single place I look at adds a $30-$45 daily “destination fee” or “resort fee” at checkout that covers stuff I don’t want (like local calls and a bottle of water). Does anyone know of any decent hotels near midtown that just charge a flat nightly rate without the hidden BS? This has been a very frustrating experience so far ---

@carl Hi Carl, welcome to the community! It’s been quite a long time since my last trip to New York, but unfortunately those **destination or resort fees have become very common in many hotels** , especially in Manhattan. From what many travelers mention, it’s often hard to completely avoid them in midtown. Sometimes smaller **boutique hotels or independent hotels** are more transparent with pricing, but it can still vary. Hopefully someone who has **stayed in NYC more recently** can recommend a few specific hotels without those extra fees.
