Mexico City food tour: Eat Like a Local vs Sabores vs DIY?

Heading to CDMX in late May for 6 days and food is literally the #1 reason we’re going. Everyone on reddit swears by Eat Like a Local, but Sabores Mexico Food Tours also has great reviews and is about $20 cheaper pp.

Honestly though, part of me thinks I should just spend 3 hours wandering Roma Norte and Condesa eating at whatever smells good and save the $120.

Has anyone done both? Is the guide value actually worth it or is Mexico City food so approachable that a tour is overkill for anyone willing to point at things?
