We’re keen on the mountaintop trips, but going from a valley to over 3,000 metres in a matter of minutes gives us slight pause. We’d like to know whether people actually feel the altitude up there and whether it’s all gentle and accessible once you arrive. How did your group find it?

I went up to the highest point in Europe, which is in Switzerland, and it took us a while. Even with stops up the mountain, by the time I made it to the top I was very loopy. You feel lightheaded and a bit dizzy and somewhat drunk without tasting any alcohol!
The effects wore off quickly as we descended, but the altitude while up there was definitely felt!
