We’re a couple planning our first UK and Ireland trip, thinking of covering England, Scotland and Ireland in about two weeks - London and a bit of the English countryside, up to Edinburgh and the Highlands, then across to Ireland. Is two weeks enough to do the three without it turning into a blur, or would you drop one? For those who’ve combined them, how did you split it?

I haven’t been to all of these places on the same trip, but having visited them at different times, two weeks could be possible. London to Edinburgh is around 4½ hours by train, and getting from Scotland to Ireland adds another travel leg. Keeping London, Edinburgh and a smaller part of Ireland would make the trip much more manageable. The English countryside could be left out to give more time to the main stops.
